VODAN Africa Certifies 6 FAIR Data Stewards Level 4, 36 Data Clerks, and 11 Health Facilities Recognized For Production of FAIR Data
On December 21st, 2023, the VODAN Africa Initiative certified six FAIR Data Steward Level 4 that will assist the Initiative in strengthening health data access across Africa. These Data stewards were the first cohort for the FAIR Data Steward Level 4. Last year 31 data stewards were trained in FAIR Data Steward Level 1 (9), FAIR Data Steward Level 2 (13), and FAIR Data Steward Level 3 (9).
The new Data Stewards Level 4 are - Joëlle Stocker, Lars Schrijver, Rens Kievit, Misha Stocker, Kai Smits, and Nathalia Morales Rojas.
Also, 11 health facilities from Ethiopia (2), Nigeria (3), Kenya (3), and Uganda (3) were given a certificate of recognition for demonstrating competence in FAIR Data Production. These facilities are
- Ethiopia - Mekelle General Hospital and Ayder Comprehensive Specialized Hospital
- Nigeria - Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) Health Services Ago Iwoye Ogun State Nigeria, General Hospital, Lapai and Nigerian Railway Clinic
- Kenya - Pumwani Maternity Hospital, KEMRI, and Beacon of Hope Hospital
- Uganda - Hoima Referral Hospital, KIU Teaching Hospital, and Lira Referral Hospital
Lastly, 36 Data Clerks from various health facilities across Ethiopia, Nigeria, Kenya and Uganda were certified
