The Nigerian COVID-19 datasets on the FDP include daily cases, cases by states, cases by geopolitical zones, daily cumulative recovery rate cases by states, daily cumulative death cases by states, daily cumulative confirmed cases by states, geographical spread of testing laboratories and some economic data in Nigeria.

The VODAN Africa Team in Nigeria on Tuesday, September 8th, 2020 demonstrated the FAIRification of COVID-19 data at the FAIR Data Point (FDP) deployed at Data Science Nigeria (DSN). This demonstration was done by Ezekiel Adebayo Ogundepo from DSN and Dr. Sakinat Folorunso, the Nigerian Team Lead at VODAN Africa. The webinar was hosted by Charles Kahiro and Ivy Wachara of Ravel Works Africa.

The Nigerian COVID-19 datasets on the FDP include daily cases, cases by states, cases by geopolitical zones, daily cumulative recovery rate cases by states, daily cumulative death cases by states, daily cumulative confirmed cases by states, the geographical spread of testing laboratories and some economic data in Nigeria.

Another significant dataset captured includes the sentimental analysis of information propagated during the pandemic that borders on COVID-19 messages, misinformation, and disinformation on COVID-19, and myths disseminated about the pandemic. These data were scrapped from Tweets from Nigerians, WhatsApp broadcasts, SMS.

The Nigerian team also highlighted the challenges of data entry, data migration and upload. According to Bert Meerman, Director at GO FAIR Foundation and Prof. Francisca Oladipo, the Executive Coordinator of VODAN Africa, this is an opportunity to fix the grey areas that make the FDPs more resilient. The team member from other participating countries were also encouraged to document the issues and challenges they are experiencing.
